Traveling With Jake’s Candle

"Candles" was used in my Moonrise painting

The title of this post is “Traveling with Jake’s Candle”.  It actually has very little to do with traveling, or candles.  It has everything to do with Jake.

It’s funny how this ended up being my first post, even before I made my first post.  My husband, Jake, has been kind enough to set up a website for me, and help me muddle through the development of it.  This was originally an example he showed me for posting a blog, and including an image.  He runs a well established website already, so this is all pretty familiar to him.  I, on the other hand, am pretty new to the game.

I am, after all, an artist working primarily in oil paint.  It’s a medium that’s been around for a long time, without too many changes.  I am also traditional in my asthetics, so I haven’t had much of a desire to be conceptional or innovative.  That’s not to say I’m afraid of technology.  I’ve got a computer.  I’ve got an ipod and a cell phone.  I’ve got email, facebook, and even a twitter account.  But since I’ve known Jake, I’ve embraced technology in a new way – it has begun to make it’s way into my work.

Okay, I may be overstating things a bit.  I’m not working multi-media (yet), but it’s been great for documentation and reference.  The image in this post is a reference I used for Moonrise (you can find it in the Oil Painting Gallery).  I am pretty excited to keep working on this website, and continually post on the blog.  I really need the accountability to keep producing work, and this just might be the way to do it!
