Yesterday, June 26th, was my sister Colleen’s, and her husband Tristan’s first wedding anniversary.\u00a0 Traditionally, the gift for the first anniversary is paper.\u00a0 Since Colleen is a very creative person (she printed all their save-the-date cards and wedding invitations), I knew the “average” present wouldn’t do.\u00a0 By the way, more of her letterpress prints can be seen here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I decided to turn her work of art – the invitation – into another work of art – an origami ornament.<\/p>\n

The hardest part of this project was cutting up Colleen’s beautifully made invitation.\u00a0 I initially scanned the invitation thinking I would use the copied image.\u00a0 But it seemed a little less authentic to me.\u00a0 I also used a few different pieces of scrapbook paper that fit the theme of their wedding and reception – a country picnic.\u00a0 And I even used the envelope!<\/p>\n
