{"id":2,"date":"2011-01-19T18:13:12","date_gmt":"2011-01-19T18:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2022-10-26T11:00:48","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T15:00:48","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"Bio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_0715.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-588 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_0715.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0715\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_0715.jpg 2304w, http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_0715-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.sarahmorganart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_0715-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2304px) 100vw, 2304px\" \/><\/a>Original still life, figurative, and portrait paintings from award winning artist Sarah Morgan.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Morgan&#8217;s realistic art has received critical acclaim for her fine detail and impeccable control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In her words&#8230;<\/strong><br \/>I am a representational artist.\u00a0 My work is sometimes referred to, mistakenly, as photo-realism.\u00a0 It is my desire to capture a faithful reproduction of life, but not in the way a camera would.\u00a0 I believe the realism of my paintings is in the closeness to what the eye sees, and the mind perceives.<\/p>\n<p>I am most intrigued by space, light, and texture.\u00a0 Like many artists, I look for beauty in ordinary objects, but I\u2019m more likely to draw or paint something I already see as beautiful.\u00a0 Still life is my subject matter of choice.\u00a0 I enjoy the juxtaposition of objects, the tension created by different textures, and even the possibility of creating subtext and deeper meaning within a composition.\u00a0 I also find great satisfaction in figurative work and portraiture.\u00a0 Working with a model offers unique challenges, but on a basic level, it\u2019s the same as a still life.\u00a0 Space, light, color, texture, value and edge resolution all apply.\u00a0 But there is nothing more satisfying (and difficult) than finishing a portrait that captures both a person\u2019s likeness and personality.\u00a0 In figurative work, the challenge is in capturing the model\u2019s energy.\u00a0 The human figure is one of the most difficult subjects to work with, not only because of the form, but because within each figure is the whole human experience.<\/p>\n<p>I work primarily from life, but have no qualms in using photographic references.\u00a0 Most of my work is done over the course of several months, so for some subject matter, it\u2019s unavoidable.\u00a0 I am conscious about not letting my work look like I occasionally work from photographs.\u00a0 Light is an important aspect of my paintings, and I try to work from natural light when possible.\u00a0 But there are times when my schedule or studio space doesn\u2019t allow for it, or I feel that natural (north) light is too cool.\u00a0 In those times I work from artificial light.\u00a0 I prefer to work from a combination of natural and artificial light, to contrast the different color of the two.\u00a0 I work from a full color palette, and am a great fan of color, even if my paintings tend towards the subtle.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I don\u2019t have as much time to paint as I would like, I find satisfaction from my work as a professor.\u00a0 My students continue to inspire me, and challenge me to new ideas.\u00a0 While it\u2019s my job to help them see what\u2019s in front of them, they encourage me to new ways of seeing as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employment:<br \/><\/strong><em>2003 &#8211;
